Birmingham PR agency Rewired has recruited a new account director from a rival consultancy.

Keith Gabriel, a columnist in the Birmingham Post, joins the Jewellery Quarter firm from Meriden marketing agency Cogent Elliott, where he managed accounts in sectors including financial services, travel and engineering.

His 16 years’ communications experience in the Midlands has also seen him work for the UK Film Council through the First Light initiative, financial PR agency Citigate Dewe Rogerson and Sandwell NHS Primary Care Trust.

Mr Gabriel has previously collaborated with Rewired to deliver a public relations campaign supporting International Dance Festival Birmingham.  Joining the team as account director, Mr Gabriel  will work closely with Rewired board members Ruth Pipkin and Rebecca Williams in developing the company’s growing business to business PR offering.

Ms Pipkin said: “It’s been 12 months since Rewired significantly expanded its offer and, having successfully integrated two effective agencies, we’re keen to capitalise on our strengths – hence the appointment of a new account director.

“Keith’s experience of business to business PR will be invaluable for servicing our existing clients and in attracting new business.”

Mr Gabriel added: “I, like many others in the regional PR fraternity, have been impressed with the achievements to date of Ruth and her team and intend to play an integral part in progressing Rewired’s ambitious plans for growth.”
