Belfry takes top honour at Birmingham Post Business Awards

Hotel and golf resort named Company of the Year while manufacturer RP Technologies enjoys a brace of awards

The Belfry Hotel & Resort scooped top honours at the Birmingham Post Business Awards last night.

The venue won the headline Company of the Year Award, sponsored by Jaguar Land Rover, and was honoured in front of 700 guests attending the ceremony at the ICC in Birmingham city centre.

The Belfry beat stiff competition from Inspired Thinking Group, Access Bookings and HydraForce to win the BPBA 2016 trophy and celebrated its success with 12 other category winners.

The resort comprises 319 rooms, a golf course, spa, leisure club and a selection of bars and restaurants and is surrounded by tranquil Warwickshire countryside.

The Belfry was named Company of the Year

Last year, it won the England's Leading Resort award at the World Travel Awards.

Its plans include rejuvenating the children's play area, introducing a woodlands walk along with a mini golf experience, and a new selection of fitness classes and gym equipment.

Also enjoying a successful night was Kingswinford-based manufacturer RP Technologies which won both the Small Business and Excellence in Manufacturing awards.

Other firms to take home the spoils were New Business of the Year Colmore Tang Construction, Retailer of Year Harvey Nichols and Not-for-Profit organisation Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity.

The event was hosted by comedian and broadcaster Dominic Holland and ITV weather presenter Emma Jesson, with entertainment from British-Armenian musician, comedian and actor Britain's Got Talen contestant Kevin Orkian.

Guests were also invited to take part in a silent auction with proceeds going to Acorns Children's Hospice.

The revamped Harvey Nichols was named Retailer of the Year

Birmingham Post editor-in-chief Marc Reeves said: "I want to congratulate all our winners who have all performed exceptionally well in their fields.

"The value of any award can be measured in the strength of the competition you have to beat and it is certainly true that all of our finalists provided very tough competition.

"I know our sponsors and partners found it very difficult to decide on the winners in each category. It is great to see The Belfry Hotel & Resort celebrating as our overall Company of the Year.

"They have an established record for success and clearly plan to continue to build on their achievements."

BPBA 2016 was supported by a raft of established firms proud to showcase business success in Birmingham comprising Turkish Airlines, Mattioli Woods, Jerroms, Birmingham Airport, IKEA, PMGC, JLT, Birmingham City University, Liberty House, Inspirational Magazine, Jaguar Land Rover, Browne Jacobson, Janine Edwards and BodyPower.

The Birmingham Post worked in partnership with Champions (UK) plc to deliver this year's business awards to continue to make the ceremony a prominent event in the city's business calendar.
