Luxury car manufacturer Aston Martin has launched its latest concept car today at the 85th Geneva International Motor Show.

The Gaydon-based company said it wanted to challenge the nature of luxury GT travel in the 21st century with the debut of the all-electric DBX Concept in a bid to reach out to a more diverse global audience.

It comes hot on the heels of the news that the availability of the Lagonda Taraf is to be extended beyond Middle East.

Chief executive Andy Palmer said: "The DBX Concept is a challenge to the existing status quo in the high luxury GT segment.

"It envisages a world, perhaps a world not too far away, when luxury GT travel is not only stylish and luxurious but also more practical, more family friendly and more environmentally responsible.

"I asked my team at Aston Martin to expand their thinking beyond conventions, to explore what the future of luxury GT motoring would look like in years ahead.

"The DBX Concept is more than a thought starter....we will, in due course, be entering a car into the new DBX space and I am very much looking forward to seeing how this concept is received."

The car is capable of accommodating four adults and also focuses on day-to-day practicality as it has space for luggage in the rear boot and forward load bay.

Inside, the company has tried to create what it calls a "uniquely soft, cocooning ambience" with Nubuck leather and hi-tech equipment including electric steering, toughened glass and bespoke driver and passenger head-up displays.
